The three of us in one of the cavern areas. So cool! |
This year marks my eleventh year in education, all at the same school. I began as a program assistant for two years and have been in the classroom for the remainder. I have taught 2nd-4th grades. I have my BA from Carthage College and at one time held certification in both Wisconsin and Illinois. I also have my ELL endorsement through National Louis. This summer is the start of my journey toward a Master's degree.
I have chosen technology as the focus for my Master's because of the direction that I see our schools and society going. Also, I work in a building that is very technology rich. I am not afraid to use or employ any of the resources in my building, but truly do not feel that I am using it all to it's potential.
Hi Breanna. Good for you on the camping! It's not my favorite activity but the rest of the family loves it! The lower grades are a great place to implement some fun technology with your students and start to build a foundation for them with technology's role with productivity. I think you made a great choice in your focus for your Masters (yes, I'm a bit biased). Technology in education is here to stay!
ReplyDeleteDo you use technology with your students now? If so, what?
Hi Nicole.
DeleteThank you. I understand the bias...reading and math are great, but one day we will be doing it all using technology. ;)
We do use technology now. We have SMART boards, iPads and desktops in all of our classrooms. We also have two labs, laptop carts and iPad carts. Despite being heavy in Apple hardware, we are a Google district. All of our students have Google accounts that we use for presentations, collaborative projects, research and processing work. I'll be using Bloomz with my parents this year and creating a google webpage. We are also using Google Classroom for the first time.
I'll be curious to hear how you like Bloomz. Can I ask why you chose that platform? Just curious as it is new and most folks are familiar with Remind.
DeleteI honestly had not heard of Remind until I joined Twitter. I found Bloomz on Facebook. So far it has been easy to use both online and with the app. We haven't started school yet, so I am not sure about how it will roll out to parents. Hopefully that goes well.
